Description/Blazon

A silver metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a silver stylized representation of the seven-spike crown of the Statue of Liberty, detailed red, above a silver staff of Aesculapius, all interlaced with and encircled by a tripartite maroon scroll inscribed "SALUBRIS" at top and "SUPRA OMNIS" on either side in silver letters.

Symbolism

The Statue of Liberty crown represents the City and State of New York, the unit's home location and area of operations.  The staff of Aesculapius, mythical god of medicine, symbolizes healing and medical care in the field.  Maroon and white/silver are the colors traditionally associated with the Medical Corps.  Red stands for courage and the lifeblood of U.S. Army personnel, denoting the mission of the organization.

Background

The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 29 June 1988.
